Why we check your roof before the panels

Solar panels are built to last for decades. If the roof under them is already near the end of its life, you will be paying to take the panels off and put them back sooner than you planned.

What we look at

• How old the roof is and what shape it is in
• Soft spots in the decking and worn flashing
• Vents, pipes and other things that get in the way
• Which parts of the roof get the most sun

If your roof needs work

We will tell you, and we will tell you before we talk about panels. Usually the better order is to fix the roof first and then add solar. It is cheaper than doing it the other way around.
